2010 mHealth Summit

The countdown to the 2010 mHealth Summit has begun. The event, taking place next week from November 8-10th at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C., will explore ways mobile technology can increase the access, quality and efficiency of healthcare to millions of families in communities in the U.S. and around the globe.

“We’re extremely pleased that this year’s event is attracting such a diverse group of participants from across private and public sectors,” says Richard Scarfo, Director of Strategic Alliances and mHealth Summit Director at the Foundation for the National Institutes of Health. “From South Africa to Seattle, leaders in research, technology, business and policy are coming together to discuss the benefits and challenges of mHealth.”

With Bill Gates, the White House’s first Chief Technology Officer Aneesh Chopra, UN Foundation Board Chairman Ted Turner, and Rockefeller Foundation President Dr. Judith Rodin delivering keynote addresses, the Summit promises to be a groundbreaking opportunity to build awareness and inspire action around how mobile technology can improve lives. In addition to high-level speakers, several key announcements will be made at the Summit, including increased commitments to mHealth both in the U.S. and around the world.

“One of the missions of this Summit is to explore ways to make the promise and the economics of mHealth work so sustainable healthcare solutions are created in the developing world to help people who do not currently have access to medical information or treatment,” says David Aylward, Executive Director of the mHealth Alliance. “We are in a position to make a major difference for people in need.”

The Summit has been organized by the Foundation for the National Institutes of Health, the mHealth Alliance and the National Institutes of Health.

CONTENT & COMMUNICATIONS WORLD (CCW) ANNOUNCES EXPANDED POST PRODUCTION OFFERINGS FOR 2010 CONFERENCE

New Industry Alliances with Future Media Concepts and Motion Picture Editors Guild Bring Targeted Post Production Content to CCW

What: Content & Communications World (CCW), which includes HD World, 3D World and SATCON, is pleased to announce a major expansion in the event’s Post Production offerings with new collaborations involving Future Media Concepts and the Motion Picture Editors Guild (MPEG).

The New York Post Production Conference (NYPPC), produced by Future Media Concepts , in association with the NAB Show, now will co-locate with CCW.  Now in its sixth year, NYPPC brings significant incentives to the high-level audiences attending CCW with two days of targeted, cutting-edge training sessions on mid – high level production, post production, new media and related topics.  (http://www.nypostconference.com/)

“Co-locating our conference with CCW is going to be beneficial to attendees of both events,” said Ben Kozuch, President and Co-Founder of Future Media Concepts.  “Now, production and post-production professionals can benefit from our world-renowned training and also gain exposure to the quality buyers, exhibitors and thought-leaders attending CCW Expo.  It’s a perfect venue to absorb valuable knowledge while seeing the innovative tools and resources needed to put that knowledge into action.”

Additionally, the Motion Pictures Editors Guild has joined CCW as a marketing partner and will sponsor the “Post Production and Workflow Integration” track of conference sessions at the event.

Our collaboration with CCW is welcome news for all people involved in the post-production arena,” said Lisa Churgin, A.C.E., President of the Motion Picture Editors Guild.  “We have worked with the team behind CCW before and continue to find it an alliance that is mutually beneficial.  Our members gain access to CCW’s vast resources, while CCW attendees are provided the opportunity to tap into the Guild’s knowledge, insight and longtime experience in post-production work.”

“Last year, CCW added a track of production and post production panel sessions which greatly increased our qualified attendees from these segments,” said Michael Driscoll, VP and Event Director for CCW.  “What started five years ago as primarily an HD broadcast conference has grown exponentially to become the United States’ largest fall media & entertainment technology event.”

CCW now features a full range of solutions for content creation, management and delivery for a variety of specialty areas, including media & entertainment, sports, government, military, enterprise and education, among others.

“The New York Post Production Conference brings additional strength to CCW and the Motion Picture Editors Guild is a great marketing partner who brings a highly qualified audience to the event,” says Driscoll.  “Establishing these two vital alliances without a doubt expands our reach and the unique value we offer through our event.”

NYC – Union Square: Mohandas Gandhi Statue

This bronze sculpture depicting Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was sculpted by Kantilal B. Patel. After its dedication on October 2, 1986, the 117th anniversary of Gandhi’s birth, the sculpture joined monuments to Washington, Lafayette, and Lincoln in Union Square Park as a quartet of works devoted to defenders of freedom. Noted civil rights leader Bayard Rustin was the keynote speaker at the dedication.

The monument, donated by the Gandhi Memorial International Foundation and underwritten by Mohan B. Murjani of Murjani International, Ltd., was installed at Union Square because of the tradition of protest associated with the park. The champion of nonviolent protest and Indian independence from Britain, arguably one of the most important figures of the 20th century, is seen here grasping a staff in his right hand, looking towards a point on the horizon, and walking forward. Clad in sandals and a cotton dhoti, Gandhi’s dress illustrates his Hindu asceticism as well as his support for Indian industries. After its installation the monument became an instant pilgrimage site, with an annual ceremony taking place on Gandhi’s birthday, October 2.

In 2001, Parks conserved the statue after it had been removed temporarily to facilitate the construction of a water main beneath the site. In 2002, the piece was reset on a more naturalistic stone base and the landscaped area around the monument, known as Gandhi Gardens, was expanded and improved.

Dr. Robert Muller was a Former Assistant Secretary General to the United Nations. I got to know him personally and we became friends. I had the rare privilege of talking to and working with Dr. Muller. I read his book Most of All, They Taught Me Happiness,

many years ago and consider it a book that can revolutionize the world. This book can show you that using happiness can save your life. This is a must read for those who want to read about a true genius in our human evolution. This book has and will change many lives.

ARE YOU HAPPY? DECIDE TO BE HAPPY! You can be happy no matter what the circumstances.
Deciding to be happy can even save your life. Your happiness is a great contribution to Peace.

“Robert Muller shows us that through our intention we can manifest a happy destiny for ourselves and others, regardless of the circumstances.” — WAYNE DYER, author of The Power of Intention

“These stories reveal that by overcoming the illusionary fears and limitations of our ego, we may step into the limitless power and wisdom of our true divine selves.” — NEALE DONALD WALSCH, author of Conversations with God
