The Wall Street Journal’s Walter Mossberg agreed that the Verizon iPhone drops fewer calls than its AT&T counterpart, although he added that data speed is not as fast, as well as the inability to use the CDMA phone overseas or use data while making a call.
Meanwhile, Engadget’s Joshua Topolsky called the more reliable call service “the main course” of the new device Opens in a new window, adding that “the fear that normally sets in about five minutes into a connected call with an AT&T iPhone all but disappeared” after using the Verizon iPhone for awhile. But he also called the data speeds “dramatically slower” than the AT&T edition.
Meanwhile, after less than 24 hours, Verizon said late Thursday that it has stopped taking preorders of the iPhone. And the carrier debuted a new ad for the device featuring the “Can You Hear Me Now” character.
